Howdy folks. I'm just the messenger, so no pushin'. But in what sort of world is it okay to imply that Michelle Obama is an irresponsible unwed mother... but that it's so FREAKIN' wonderful that Bristol is having a Baby -- that they wanted to hide until she was safely married??
You look at this:

You get the picture?
Show some solidarity, people. And breathe some flamin' bullets at folks like Billy O'Reilly. Because he was for blamin' the parents before he was against it.
Shotgun marriage to a date-rapist, as ordered by your kin.
Because it's only rape if he don't marry you after...
Is it only me who's having flashbacks to the Rennaisance?
I know when I use profanity, I'm likely to get trollrated -- even if I'm in good humor and not insulting anyone.
I know that trollrating trolls is likely to get me trollrated in return.
I know that snark is often poorly onderstood, and really ought to go with a .~ tag that signifies silliness.
But what I don't get, is why referencing A MEDICAL INJURY got me fucking trollrated. Not once, not twice, but by four fucking people???
It's medical malpractice, is what it is. And they're working to fix it.
But gods FORBID, I should even mention that our beloved Democratic President, the Big Dog, is suffering!
If you can't see it in his eyes, I can.
This ain't sports, and he knows that a lot rides on how well he performs -- and he'll do his best.
but he'll know it wasn't the same.
Probably not going to post today. Kvittin' day is come again -- dis is de day when I am upset enough to be posting the profanity everywhere.
Because some people don't want to be decent enough to leave a great president alone.
Were you paying attention?
Do you remember the muckrakers the Republicans had hired to derail the Clinton Express? Rush Limbaugh was cackling with glee at his revived career.
Hillary spent since 2001 preparing for this election. You think the Republicans didn't? They prepared for Clinton. They wanted Clinton, because let's face it -- they aren't exactly the fastest people on their feet.
Could Hillary Rodham Clinton have won the general election? No doubt about it. Just like there's no doubt that Obama will win this one.
Obama is in a rather unique position for a Presidential Candidate. He already has all of his core demographics, and most of the independents playing in his court. Sure, the election is far from won, but it's not like there's more than 5% chance of McCain winning at this point. This is playing from a position of strength.
From a strong position, about the worst thing Obama could do is pick someone gaffe prone, or someone who is perceived to 'shore up' Obama on anything. Gaffes have the potential to derail the campaign, and having a Vice Presidential Candidate who is only able to talk about one particular area of policy -- or who is perceived to be strong there, is not ideal.
Okay, we'll make this short and sweet. I'm recommending you leave
myDD for just a few minutes, to read someone else's diary. He puts it better than me, anyhow.
Skeptical Brotha on Nikki Tinker
Just a sample:
As [Trojan Horse] implies, Aunt Nikki is a stealth weapon of the right-wing that optimally would be used to destroy progressive black representation and the social, political, and economic viability of Black Memphis. Unfortunately for our corporate enemies on the right, Aunt Nikki's campaign exploded today like an IED in a war zone when it released an ad which strikes a note of false religiosity and implies that Steve Cohen is an Jewish interloper unwelcome in black churches and alludes to a bill to protect "religious freedom" and the unfettered right of religious organizations to discriminate against gay and lesbian people. This is the culmination of her clumsy attempts to make inroads with the black ministerial community by pandering to the homophobia of a select group of black pastors.
You don't get to tell a Negro what racist is.
Are we clear?
I'm trying to take that perspective close to heart, myself, so y'all let me know if I am strayin'. Taking that principle -- it pretty much tells you straight. The Clinton campaign was Racist, and the Obama campaign was sexist. You want to whitewash that, tone it down? Be my guest.
But please, people, remember the rules. If you step on someone, by saying that they don't know what something offensive is, and you ain't even in their fucking in-group -- that's you, Mr. WASP-on-the-outside. Yer damn fucking right people gonna be pissed.
So, if you're me and you care about health care, and optional medicine that your doctor says is necessary to avoid permanent mild to moderate shock -- but your health care insurance company says that you have to take the nonprescription stuff that is still sending you into shock -- you got a beef.
But what have you done to push health care? By the numbers, probably not much. In all reality, people do very little to get bills passed. I can cite you over a hundred bills (including many on smoking and seatbelts) that no citizen ever really wanted passed. Insurance companies made the laws, and they got them passed. The nannyization of our society, as the conservatives like to so quaintly put it, comes from CORPORATIONS.
Health care is becoming a big beef, and deservedly so. But most people don't realize just yet how big of a beef it is -- and so we don't see the activism you would expect. No marching in the streets (that got covered, at least). No coverage of the poor folks holding garage sales because their "best of the bunch" insurance still wouldn't cover their bills. If the TeeVee ain't screamin' about something, most people wouldn't know shit about it. I regularly mention the food crisis -- and people, even educated professors, look at me like I should need to take a class to learn about my world.
That diary up there on the rec list has my collar steamed. So, before i go putting the crimp in it, I'm going to ask you to read this:
http://newstandardnews.net/content/?acti on=show_item&itemid=116
Thank you for your time and patience.
You see, when we start to talk white privilege, most people think about being stalked by security in a grocery store. I'm told that happens (and when you, as plainclothes security, are getting calls about a "suspicious individual" that just happens to be YOURSELF, I can acknowledge that yeah, it is happening).
But this world runs on currency, on money and the accumulation of money. And this is where Black people suffer. And will continue to suffer, for crimes long long past.
75% of whites can trace their wealth back to racist policies, be they FHA loans or the Homestead Act (you didn't know that was racist, now didja?)
I don't have time to write a full well researched diary right now, though I'll try and add onto this as the day goes on.
I'm calling for some action, I'm calling for this to get up on the Recommended list, because... America ought to recognize where she is, before she can go anywhere.
Those MILLIONS of blacks mentioned in the rec list are one Layoff away from being one of those POOR blacks. If you're white, you might not get that. But if you have a house, and you're laid off, you can get a second mortgage to pay the rent for a while. You got money, there, that you can depend on. If you're renting, if the biggest wealth you can lay claim to is a car, which you happen to need to find more work, you don't got that cushion.
